"Chance makes our parents, but choice makes our friends." - Jacques Delille

Jacques Delille, the 18th century poet, free Mason and poet, was so right.  Choosing your friends should be done with discernment as we only have a finite amount of time to spend with them.  I treat my friends like piece of fine jewelry, admiring their beauty and trying to enjoy them judiciously so as not to wear them out.

This picture, taken at the Cafe Hugo in the Paris' Place des Vosges is one of my favorites.  I surreptitiously snapped these two laughing ladies enjoying their friends and conversation over hot chocolate.  It communicates joy, laughter and being in the moment, just as I relish experiencing with my bevy of good friends around the world.
